HOT ! 18\" Strand of Akoya Salt Water Cultured Pearls Measuring 6.5mm x 6mm

Our latest strand of cultured pearls is 18\" long and consists of Akoya saltwater cultured pearls ranging in diameter from 6.5mm to 6mm. The luster is good, giving it a beautiful, polished look. The blemishes are minor and difficult to see.

Cultured pearls can seem to be a bit confusing. Natural pearls are rarely seen on the market today. The process of cultivating pearls was first developed in 1893. Cultured pearls are your only option when shopping for pearls.

However, there are two options for cultured pearls: freshwater or saltwater. Freshwater cultured pearls are the most popular due to their lower cost. A freshwater pearl can be cultivated in about 3-4 months, vs. saltwater pearls, which take 2-3 years. The quality between the two is close, but saltwater pearls are generally better.  Saltwater pearls are referred to as Akoya.
